I was just thinking that maybe I am starting to sound a bit disturbed with all the horrific Trifecta’s, so here is a sweet one to prove I’m okay.
This week’s Trifecta challenge –
Cheap
3 a : of inferior quality or worth : tawdry, sleazy <cheapworkmanship>
b : contemptible because of lack of any fine, lofty, or redeeming qualities <feeling cheap>
More than money
“Grandma, what is this?” the children ran to her, excitement on their faces. A cheap drugstore ring became more valuable with each word as she told them of her childhood sweetheart, their grandfather.
I wasn’t worried. I purge through my writing, and assumed a lot of us were doing the same. But sweet stories are nice too. Thanks for both of your entries.
I just did another too…I’m a little bored, and “cheap” is easy. In more ways than one. 😉
Wow. Polar opposite!
I thought I’d lighten the mood.
REad it. Liked it. Cool. Brevity. Laterz.
I actually wrote three, this is the sweet one.
I know. I know. Good. Good.
Thanks!
This is so sweet, but so completely different from your other entry! You are one versatile writer.
Thank you. I actually wrote 3 of the entries this week, all a little different. Thanks.
Sweet story. When I was a kid, I always liked to hear stories of when the adults were young, too!
Thank you so much!
Very lovely little story, made me reminisce back on stories of how my grandparents met.
Thank you. I am not sure how my grandparents met, and they are all dead now, but it made a pretty word picture in my mind.
That really was very sweet. I can see a time when a drug store ring may be all a young man could afford for his sweetheart.
Thanks, it was a really cute picture in my mind.
Oh, that really is sweet. It is short, but the words are well-chosen and it still tells a complete story. Nice!
Thank you. I thought maybe I should lighten it up a little.
Sweet. Sentimental is the only kind of value worth having.
I would love to say I agree, but my latest post is what I really value. 😉
Thanks for linking up again with a lighter piece–though I don’t think anyone minds the darker ones.
Ahhh, those were the days–when a man bought a woman a ring he could afford instead of borrowing against credit he doesn’t really have in order to get something lavish. 🙂 A love story in more ways than one. Nice job!
Yes, I’m pretty cheap at heart too. 😉
