I need to write. It frees me. Gets stuff out of my head. I spend way too much time in there. I want to be happy. So, how do I do that? How do you become happy?

  1. Happiness is not a destination. Happiness is a state of mind. With that in mind, happiness is always at your disposal. The trick is to learn how to overcome the blinders that we have put on ourselves to live in the happiness that is already there. We are our own worst enemy.

    • Oh my gosh Nuke, you sound way too philosophical. Wise words though, but do you think happiness really is there? How do you find it if you’ve pushed it down too far?

I have moments of happiness, but I think overall I’m pretty negative. I want to break out of that though.

  2. Happiness is a state of mind. It helps if you live in the moment (rather than in the past or future). If you live in the moment, you can take joy in the petals of a flower or the sunlight reflecting on the hair of your grandchild. I know it’s hard to do, I struggle with it every day. When I am down in the dumps, I try wearing brighter clothes, take special care with my make up & hair – anything that makes me feel even a tiny bit prettier – it gives me a bit of momentum to get going!

    • Wise words. I agree that putting makeup on and trying to look good seems to help. I spend so much time home and alone and in pjs. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but looking nice does help me feel better.
